Admissions and Costs


Admissions Requirements

We require all incoming students
  • To be deeply familiar with and comfortable working with at least 15 plants and already have some basic knowledge of at least 15 more.       
  • To be comfortable making tinctures, decoctions, infusions, and infused oils
  • To have basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • To have some experience working with people as a practitioner, even if just with family and friends: whether as an herbalist, an acupuncturist, a chinese herbal practitioner, a body worker, an energy worker, a counselor, or a medical professional.

Training from another herb school or extensive self-study is not required but will surely be helpful in your studies as this course presumes a base level of knowledge of Western Herbalism.

Admissions Process

When you are ready to apply, download the application using the link above.
  • Email your completed application including two references familiar with your work and knowledge to greenwisdomschool@gmail.com.
  • When you sign and submit your application you are stating that you have read and agreed to the Cancellation Policy, the Non-Refundable Deposit Policy and the Portland School of Herbal Wisdom Agreements listed in the Cost and Payments options section of this page.  
  • Make a $500 non-refundable deposit via the link below to secure your spot. This deposit is non-refundable unless your application is not approved for some reason. In that case your deposit will be refunded immediately. 
  •  Once your application is received we will be in contact with the next steps. This may include a phone interview with Sean or if we feel confident that this program would be a good fit for you we may not need to do an interview.
  • If it is determined that this program is a good fit, you will be offered an invitation to join the 2018-2019 class. At that time payment arrangements needs to be made to hold your spot. There are several payment options. See Costs and Payment Options for more details.

The cost for the full year of training including all five-five day instruction modules with Sean Donahue and 3 guest instructors is 
  • $3100 if paid in full by April 15, 2018
  • $3400 if paid in full by August 1, 2018 * Price Extended until September 1, 2018 
  • $3700 if paid in full by October 1, 2018 or if making alternative payment arrangements  

You are responsible for your own lodging, transportation to Portland, OR and meals. 

Payment Plans

You can choose to pay in full prior to the start of classes or choose a payment plan. We are flexible with our payment plans and can customize one that fits both your and our needs. Please note that the tuition needs to be paid in full by April 1, 2019 before the last module begins.    

* We don't want anyone excluded from the training for lack of funds, please email us if you need to talk about alternative payment options or work trade possibilities for a partial scholarship.

Cancellation Policy

If you choose to withdraw from the training 45 days or more prior to the first day of the program, you will be refunded all tuition paid less your non-refundable $500 Tuition Deposit. If you choose to withdraw from the training less than 45 days before the first day of the program, or should you miss any individual class sessions, you will be held responsible for payment of the full tuition. If you are on a payment plan and have not yet paid in full, you will remain legally responsible for the entire outstanding balance of your unpaid tuition.

Non-Refundable Deposit

Once you email your application, please click on the 'Add to Cart' link to the right to enter your payment details and process your $500 tuition deposit to save your seat in the training. When we receive your application and payment, we will contact you with further details.  

Your tuition deposit is required in order for your application to be processed by our admissions team, and is non-refundable once you are accepted into the program. If your application is not approved for any reason, your deposit will be refunded immediately.
